Helmeted head of Athena r.; Rv. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ, bull standing r., with head lowered; in exergue, tunny fish. SNG ANS 1125-34; HN Italy 1777.  Pleasant green patina with darker spots. Some encrustations, otherwise extremely fine. Fine style. From a private European collection assembled in the 1980s.

Head of Athena to r., wearing crested Attic helmet, ornamented on the bowl with Skylla scanning to r. and with a griffin to right on the neck guard; Rv. ΘΟΥΡΙΩΝ, bull butting to right, monogram on his hindquarter; in exergue, fish swimming to r. HGC 1, 1255; HN Italy 1781 and SNG ANS 957 (but with Φ above visor). Traces of mechanical removal of oxides. Aggressive cleaning resulting in old tooling in some of the details on both obverse and reverse, otherwise good extremely fine.

Traces of former mechanical cleaning; some scratches. Fields gently smoothed. Possibly tooled. Exceptional specimen, very rare in this condition.  From a private European collection formed in the 1980s.

YΕΛ-ΗΤΩΝ Head of nymph to right. HN Italy 1275 var (B above). Williams Period IV, 216 (O131/R162). SNG ANS 1228 (same dies). SNG Copenhagen 1526 (same dies). Rare variant struck from slightly worn dies, otherwise very fine.
