Susa, c.ca 305-297 BC. Head of Alexander r. in Dionysian helmet covered with panther's skin and adorned with bull's ear and horns; panther's skin tied around neck; Rv. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ –ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ, Nike standing r., crowning trophy; in lower l. field, monogram; in lower central field, AX. Kraay-hirmer pl. 204, 720; ESM 417; Seleucid Coins 173, 12; Kritt A53/P13. Bold portrait. Porosity. Evidence of previous mechanical oxide removal. Fields gently smoothed. Probably slightly tooled around some figure details as a result of cleaning interventions, otherwise good extremely fine.

In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Babylon, c.ca 311-300 BC. Head of Herakles r., wearing lion skin; Rv. Zeus Aetophoros seated l.; monogram in wreath in l. field, H below throne. Price 3704; Hgc 9, 10f. High relief. Fine style. Slight traces of smoothing on the reverse between Zeus and eagle. Possible traces of former mounting, otherwise extremely fine. From a private European collection assembled in the 1980s.
